Petra Reunions on Slate For 2010
In what’s shaping up to be an exciting year for fans of Christian rock’s most acclaimed band - PETRA will stage reunion appearances in 2010.
Launching a musical revolution with its powerful message and chart-topping arena rock sound, PETRA would go on to notch over 20 million albums sold, multiple GRAMMY® and Dove Awards and induction into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame
The revolution continues today, as PETRA will mark 2010 with reunion shows at select festival dates this summer, joining up with the remarkable John Schlitt (recently voted one the greatest vocalists in the history of Contemporary Christian Music) for the festival season.
Also in 2010, the ‘classic’ line-up of PETRA (Greg X. Volz / Bob Hartman / John Lawry / Louie Weaver) are also preparing to embark on a 2010 Reunion Tour, their first since 1986. The classic line-up tour is represented for booking exclusively by San Antonio-based Greg Carnes Productions.
“This has long been a dream of mine,” says Greg Carnes. “Having worked with promoters
in the 80s and into the 90s on this iconic franchise, PETRA still ‘means rock’. Working with them for
their 2010 live dates is very exciting, indeed.’
In addition, John Schlitt and Bob Hartman will also pair up for a selection of II Guys From Petra dates.
More information on the PETRA 2010 Reunion Tour will be available soon at classicpetra.com.
The digital solo catalog of classic PETRA vocalist Greg X. Volz is available exclusively via dPulse Recordings. Greg X. Volz was lead vocalist during PETRA’s rise to the top (1977-1986), appearing on the smash-hit albums Washes Whiter Than, Never Say Die, More Power To Ya, Not of This World and Beat The System. Volz left PETRA to pursue a solo career after the release of the live album Captured in Time and Space. John Schlitt (formerly of Head East) took over lead vocalist duties, leading PETRA to a stream of hits and accolades for nearly two decades. Volz and Schlitt appeared together on the PETRA Farewell album, released in 2005 on news on the band’s retirement.
In 2010, PETRA fans everywhere can celebrate the band in all its forms.
